Private reasons and considerations, which I shall ever make it a duty to respect, force me to halt here.
I cannot, at this moment, have access to the continuation of Mademoiselle de Volanges’s adventures, nor learn of the sinister events which culminated the misfortunes, or completed the punishment, of Madame de Merteuil.
Perhaps someday it will be in my power to complete this work, by publishing the letters in a Book, but I can give no undertaking in this matter; and, even were I able to do so, I should still deem it my duty first to consult the taste of the public, which has not my reasons for taking an interest in this narration.1
This is the Editor of this newsletter. Here ends Dangerous Liaisons Daily. Please note this final message was altered to fit the Curator’s character - just being a random curator and the only person privy to the drama that occured - and the supposed absence of readers. The original is a note from the Editor of the Book to the readers.
Thank you everyone for your amazing support. The overall response this project received exceeded all my expectations. For those who subscribed recently - don’t worry, I will go knock at the Curator’s door next year, and we will start from the beginning of the book again. Until then, be well, friends. Much love.
Will this be starting again soon?
